2pm to 2am

I woke up REALLY LATE today. I obviously needed the sleep. I decided to book a Broadway show and ticket to Top of the Rock.

My friend had told me I should see The Phantom of the Opera so I booked that and headed off to Times Square, fully charged phone in hand this time!

I got dinner at the only place that didn’t have a queue out the door. Another friend had sent me a list of food I need to eat while here in NY. I’ll try to eat at one of them! Unfortunately this was not one of them. I was pretty hungry so I thought I’d try your typical American cheese fries.

Well, it’s just like I was told by my dad. They pour “liquid cheese” all over them. It is disgusting. I fetched the only cheeseless fries I could find in the bottom of my oily cheesy pile and ate those. Time for some fruit and fast.

They have a lot of grocer and deli type places on most streets so I got a pottle of fruit salad. Again my hedonistic holidaying voice got the better of me and I asked for some Boston Cheesecake too.

When in Rome!

Or Boston. Or even just near Boston…

Now I felt just right so I headed to the show. Loads of people lined 44th Street, the Theatre District, taking photos of each other in front of posters. When I got inside it was a beautiful theatre. I realised it’s the third nice theatre I’ve been to in just over a week! Cripes!

The show was pretty excellent. I hadn’t seen it and didn’t know the story so I really liked it. Some of the woman’s notes were of the highest pitch I’ve ever heard. The scene with the boat sailing over dry ice was insanely cool. It was just so Gothically beautiful.

Once it finished I headed to Top of the Rock only to be told that there was too much fog. I’ll head back another time.

I went for a wander around and found myself in this crazy cave of consumerism!

People had sacks filled with M&Ms and various unnecessary merchandise. I just walked around looking perplexed for ten minutes.

It was getting late and I wanted to get up early the next day. So I went in some more clothes shops. I’m glad the shops closed at 5pm rather than 2am back in NZ. I really would have been out all night every night.

The woman tried to upsell me on shoes and I snapped back to reality. It was time to get back to the hostel and go to sleep!
